Bio
Danny has an extensive career in IT spanning over 40 years and brings with him a wealth of strategic, technical, and commercial experience.
His formative years were spent at Ferranti, including Ferranti Creditphone, where he led the development of a national management system for the UK’s first digital mobile phone network (CT2). This early hands-on technical leadership gave him a deep understanding of real-time systems and set the foundation for a management career grounded in delivery.
Following a successful engagement with Scottish & Newcastle to deploy a first-of-its-kind field sales solution using Mobitex wireless, Danny moved into independent consultancy. His early freelance work included building a bespoke helpdesk and support function for Kellogg and delivering a GSM-based field engineer platform for North West Water. Further infrastructure and operations work followed for AstraZeneca, Woolworths and Unilever, strengthening his expertise in scalable server and network design.
An entrepreneur at heart, Danny also drove several technical firsts—most notably, a mobile credit card authorisation system over Mobitex and GSM networks in the mid-1990s and a fully mobile computing solution with Motorola, Cellnet and HP years before netbooks were mainstream.
By 2001, he transitioned back into full-time leadership roles, initially running infrastructure and technical services at a growing pharmaceutical marketing business, before taking on the Group Infrastructure Manager role at UCI Cinemas, covering 11 countries. He led the international web hosting migration that supported the release of the third Harry Potter film, while also engineering a zero-downtime integration of UCI and Odeon networks during their merger. His SSL-based remote access solution at the time was a significant departure from laptop-based models and years ahead of industry practice.
Recognising the industry’s shift toward managed services, Danny helped Keytech build a portfolio of proactive IT solutions for the SME market before joining the Co-operative Banking Group in 2008. As Head of Networks, he ran multi-million-pound budgets, led BAU and project teams, and delivered complex network and telephony transformations—including major WAN consolidations and voice platform overhauls with significant operational savings. Later, as Head of Development Services, he led four cross-functional delivery teams within a £450m IT transformation programme.
Since 2013, Danny has operated through CPS Consultants Ltd, providing high-level consultancy and programme delivery services to clients including Unilever, Manchester City Council, the Home Office and the Co-op Group. Most recently, he led the delivery of a £35m end-to-end network transformation programme across retail, logistics and corporate environments—demonstrating his capability to deliver critical infrastructure change at pace, with measurable commercial impact.
